Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Reopens

Like a lot of resorts and hotels here in Puerto Rico the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar has been closed since Hurricane Maria. During the closure the resort has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation and refreshed spaces around the property.

As part of their ongoing support for Puerto Rico the resort is donating $1 of every room night booked to the El Yunque Rainforest Restoration Fund, with the goal of raising $10,000

Nils Stolzlechner, general manager of Wyndham Grand Rio Mar said “We are eager to welcome travelers back to our newly renovated resort to celebrate this beautiful island” and “During the last few months the spirit of Puerto Rico has grown stronger than ever, and we are incredibly grateful and proud that together we have restored this region back into an incredible travel destination.”

Along with the renovations guest will also find new culinary offerings alongside traditional “cocina criolla” (Puerto Rican cuisine).

Executive Chef Ramon Carillo has overseen the new offerings that include:

  • Caicu Rum Bar – a brand-new venue featuring handcrafted, rum-based cocktails, including a selection of rare private reserve batches. Following a one million dollar investment, the sleek and sophisticated Caicu Rum Bar is an ideal spot to wind down while gazing out over the beautiful beach and vibrant reefs with a cocktail and light bites, including Mofongo Bites, Local Red Snapper Ceviche, and Puerto Rican Hummus.
  • Marbella – $1.2 million renovation debuts as the resort’s modern restaurant featuring a sleek design with a menu of traditional American favorites and Caribbean specialties.
  • Palio – an intimate and elegant restaurant serving exquisitely prepared Italian cuisine
  • Hole in One – offering drinks and bites served by the golf course
  • 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill – featuring fresh salads, burgers, sandwiches and frozen concoctions served poolside. Additionally, the resort’s refreshed beachfront
  • Tiki Hut and Pool Bar – doubles its seating capacity to accommodate upwards of 40 guests
  • Barista Café – offering light meals and snacks, including coffee, pastries, sandwiches and more.

“We are proud of the dedication, strength and perseverance that Nils, our leaders and associates at Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort have demonstrated over the last several months,” said Mark Kukulski, president of Wyndham Hotel Group’s management organization
