2008 Hurricane SeasonWith June 1st just around the corner, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has just released its updated forecast for the upcoming hurricane season. According to NOAA the 2008 hurricane season is likely to be above normal. They are predicting up to 16 named storms, with 5 of these having the potential to be major hurricanes.

The NOAA predictions are in line with those from William Gray and the Colorado State University hurricane forecasting team.
For 2008 the storm names are:

Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly, Edouard, Fay, Gustav, Hanna, Ike, Josephine, Kyle, Laura, Marco, Nana, Omar, Paloma, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky, Wilfred

In the event that your trip to Puerto Rico gets disrupted due to a hurricane, you should make sure that you are fully aware of the policy for both the airline and the hotel where you will be staying. You might also want to consider travel insurance, but make sure you read the fine print to ensure that it offers you the coverage that you require.

  1. Trisha – the offical hurricane season is from June 1 to Nov 30. But as with all things weather related you can’t really predict that there will be no hurricanes / storms before or after these dates.
