Puerto Rico may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of an adrenaline fix, but with the only rainforest in the USDA systems and the third largest cave system in the world; Puerto Rico has a few things up its sleeve.

Here are 10 companies that will get your heart racing and your adrenaline pumping in Puerto Rico.

Toro Verde Nature Adventure Park

Zip Line Tour
8 zip lines varying in length and height from 814ft (height of 131ft) to 2526 (height of 623ft). Priced at $75

The Beast Tour
Takes you on the longest zip line in the park at 4745ft (height of 853ft) which you take flying along on your stomach parallel to the ground. The tour also include the Slide at 2690ft long and the Flight of the Phoenix at 2526ft long. Priced at $50

The Wild Bull Tour
Mixes in zip lines (2), cable bridges (5) and rappelling and is physically demanding (per website). Priced at $85

Escape If You Can
Combines zip lines (4), rappelling and The Chupacabras’ Trail (a mixture of trails, fixed cables and bridges). Priced at $85

Acampa

Acampapr Adventure Tours Puerto RicoAcampa provide adventures in the Carite National Forest and Toro Negro Rainforest combining, hiking, river trekking, rappelling and ziplines. They also other a unique Full Moon zip line adventure.

Acampa’s Mucaro Rainforest and Zip Line tour is located on private land on the edge of the Carite National Forest. This half day tour (approximately 6 hours) includes, hiking upriver, over boulders, waterfalls, and jollas (steep and winding rock gullies). Once at the top of the hike, you will experience 4 zip lines with some rappelling and even more ‘jolla’ climbing.

Toro Negro Rainforest & Waterfall Zipline Adventure (Full Day)
The Acampa Toro Negro Rainforest & Waterfall Zip Line tour is located in the Cordillera Central region of Puerto Rico. This full day tour (7am – 6pm) takes place on private land close to the national forest and begins with a hike through a local coffee plantation to the Quebrada Rosa, which is a tributary of the Toro Negro River. You then hike upstream through waterfall climbs, boulders and pools. After a break for lunch, which is provided by a local Puerto Rican family, you will continue your hike reaching an elevation of around 3200ft above sea level.
From here you will head back to the starting point hiking and using 5 zip lines that cross waterfalls and canyons.

Full Moon Zip Line Adventure
The Acampa Full Moon Zip Line tour takes place at Mucaro (same as the daytime tour), but as the title suggests takes place ONLY when there is a full moon (7am – 1pm). You will be wearing headlamps as you hike your way to the zip lines and experience the thrill of zip lining under a full moon. At the end of the night you will enjoy a traditional Puerto Rican stew, beverages, music and local beer by an open fire.

Aventuras Tierra Adentro

Zip Line:
Aventuras Zip Line tour is ONLY offered on a Thursday and will have you flying over the Angeles sink hole at the Rio Camuy Cave system. The tour starts with an initial hike before you reach the zip lines and ferratas (vertical pathways equipped with cables, metal rebars and ladders).

Canyoning:
Aventuras canyoning tour is ONLY offered on a Saturday. If zip lining is too tame for you then the canyoning tour is probably more your thing. This tour will have you exploring close to El Yunque rainforest using various techniques to navigate the river. On this tour you will, zip line, use ferratas, rappel, rock climb and free jump in order to complete the course.

When: Saturday

Caving:
Aventuras Caving tour is ONLY offered on a Saturday and will take you on an adventure through the Camuy Cave system. The tour starts with a short hike followed by a zip line and then a 250 feet rappel into the mouth of the Angeles Cave. From here you will have the chance to explore the caves chambers and subterranean rivers.

Batey Zipline Adventure

Batey Zip line Adventure Tours in Puerto RicoBatey Zipline’s are located close to the Caguana Indian Ceremonial Park near Utuado and their tours take place along the Tanama River and caves in that area.

Full Day Tour
The Batey Full Day Tour includes around 90 minutes of interpretative hiking, the chance to visit two caves and also includes 6 zip lines and 70 feet of rappelling.

Limestone Forest Rock Climbing & Rappelling Adventure
The Rocaliza Limestone Forest Rock Climbing & Rappelling Adventure takes place at the Julio Enrrique Monagas Park in Bayamon (about 20mins from San Juan). This half day tour (8am – 12pm or 12pm – 4pm) starts with a forest hike that leads to caves and limestone formations and great views of the San Juan bay and city. You will then rappel down 60 feet followed by rock climbing. This is a great way to learn the techniques of rappelling and rock climbing, if you have never done it before.

Xtremedivers

xtremedivers Puerto RicoXtremedivers located in Arecibo offer tandem jumps on a Saturday & Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM by reservation or also on a on a ‘first come first served basis’.

Price depends on the number of people jumping, but is typically around $225 with an additional $95 if you would like to have your jump recorded (the DVD is edited with music and 24 photos of the skydive).

Xtremedivers also offers solo jump classes and $290 will get you an 8 hour class, your first solo jump, and log book.

Additional jumps will the cost you $165 up to jump number 8 which costs $80 (this is the graduation jump from 4,500 feet)

Yunke Zipline Adventure
